Common Penrith & Districts Basketball Panthway: Penrith Panthers Basketball Pathway

HOW DO I START

For Primary School children who haven’t played basketball before, we recommend you start with our AUSSIE HOOPS LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM.This is not compulsory but recommended and is a fun way to learn some of the skills of basketball.

After Learn to Play you may then choose to join one of our basketball club teams and play in our junior competitions.

For High School adolescents and Adults, we recommend commencing in our Junior and Senior Competitions in low divisions and working your way up from there. Competitions are run whole year round and is not a problem joining a team at any time.

JOINING A CLUB TEAM
Penrith Basketball offers competitions in both Summer and Winter for juniors (U8 to U20) and seniors. Any new members are placed into teams at the beginning of each competition.

We also try to place players throughout the season when clubs have spots available for players. If you provide us with your details, we will place you on our player database and clubs and teams will be contacted straight away to help you get started.

ENSURING YOUR CHILD/RENS TEAM CAN PLAY
For safety and duty of care, all children participating in the Junior Competition must have at least one [1] parent or a responsible adult present during their game at all times. We encourage all parents to participate and be involved in their child/ren’s games and time here during the Junior Competition.

We also help parents interested in learning a bit more about game rules etc. how to use the clocks and score-sheets, how to become a Coach or Manager and become involved with our association or club.
If you have been involved in coaching, managing or teaching previously, you will find that ‘generic’ coaching skills such as communication, group management, teaching and planning are usually ‘transferable’ between a range of sports. We always welcome new and interested volunteers to help the growth and development of our children through basketball.
