Want to Play?

STARTING OUT IN BASKETBALL
For children who haven’t played basketball before, we recommend learning how to play the game through attending theĀ LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM. (more details under Aussie Hoops on our web page). This is not compulsory but recommended

When you have learnt game skills and know how to play, you will be ready to join a team and play in our competitions.

JOINING A CLUB TEAM
Penrith Basketball offers competitions in both Summer and Winter. Any new members are placed into teams at the beginning of each competition.
We also try to place players throughout the season when clubs have spots available for players. If you provide us with your details, we will place you on our player database, which is distributed to our basketball clubs fortnightly. Any club has access to this database print out and can contact anyone on this list should they have a team that requires more players.

ENSURING YOUR CHILD/RENS TEAM CAN PLAY
For safety and duty of care, all children participating in the Junior Competition must have at least one [1] parent or a responsible adult present during their game at all times.
We encourage all parents to participate and be involved in their child/ren’s games and time here during the Junior Competition.

We also help parents interested in learning a bit more about game rules etc. how to use the clocks and scoresheets, how to become a Coach or Manager and become involved with our association.
If you have been involved in coaching, managing or teaching previously, you will find that ‘generic’ coaching skills such as communication, group management, teaching and planning are usually ‘transferable’ between a range of sports.

NOW YOU’RE READY TO PLAY
