Youth Women win Championship

Congratulations to the Penrith Youth Women on their Championship victory yesterday over the Manly Sea Eagles 66-61.

The girls certainly earned their victory the hard way after an inconsistent second round of the regular season saw them lose to all three teams they faced in the playoffs, 29pts to Norths, 18pts to Manly and 7 pts to Hornsby.

The turnaround all started with a gritty win over Hornsby 73-70 in the elimination final last weekend to be followed by the road trip to Terrigal and a strong team performance to overpower North Sydney Bears 53-48 in the semi final in a brisk 6C at 9.00am Saturday morning.

The team was keen to regain respect and prove that they deserved this Championship and hung on to defeat Manly Warringah 66-61 in the Grand Final.

Captain Dominika Offner was named MVP for the game which was fitting reward for her strong leadership but it really was a great team effort with everyone contributing when given their opportunity on court.

Ella Tofaeono was named in the BNSW 2016 All Star Five as well as the Defensive Player of the Year and all her Panther fans congratulate her on this fantastic achievement. Well done girls.
