Panthers shine at State Championships

Congratulations to the Penrith Panther U16Girls on winning the 2015 State Championships at Hawkesbury over the weekend, defeating Newcastle Hunters in the Grand Final

Our U18Boys also had a great weekend reaching the Grand Final with some fantastic pool game and semi final results but eventually went down to Hills in the Grand Final game.

The U16Boys narrowly lost a thrilling semi final clash to eventual Champions Illawarra and were unlucky not to have this game as the Grand Final.

The U16girls weekend got off to the worst start possible with one of their poorest games of the year against Albury. This meant they had to win their other two pool games by a clear margin to earn a spot in the semi finals. The girls rallied to finish first in their pool and then went on to defeat Sutherland in the semi final game and qualify for the Grand Final game against Newcastle.

Congratulations to all team members as this was truly a fantastic team effort over the entire weekend.

The U18Boys ran out of steam against Hills in their Grand Final game but we should be very proud of this team improving from a 4th place in the Metropolitan Championships to be runner up in the State.

Our U16Boys have been a dominant group in both Sydney and the State over the past 4 seasons and were just unlucky that the other pool results saw them xover against the NO.1 country team Illawarra. Their results were still great for the season and should be congratulated.
