Referee Program 2014

In 2014 the Association will look to enhance and increase numbers in our referee program. Matt Porter has been appointed as the new referees administration officer which will allow our senior officials and Executive, Nathan Blatch, Matt Thrower and Wendy Field to focus on education and procedures.

Our goals are to have a recruitment drive for new Youth Referees but equally important is to try to encourage the hundreds of Mums and Dads, ex referees and senior players who frequent the Association. Just being able to referee one game a week when you are at the stadium will be a huge contribution and allow some rest to those that are already heavily committed. All courses will be free of charge to assist with our recruitment

Refereeing offers exercise and good health with a cash in hand payment. We hope our patrons understand the huge role the referees play in basketball. If you would like to become more involved please email and look out for notes about the next course.

Penrith has some quality officials now recognised by BA and BNSW with selection to Australian Championships and State development programs. Two of these, Nathan Blatch and Bredan Reid leave today to travel to Perth for the Australian U18 Championships. We wish them every success.
